How Bad Is The Pain Following Breast Augmentation?
How bad is the pain during recovery from breast augmentation surgery? Can you please share as I am having a lot of anxiety about this and can’t stop thinking about it.
Our Answer:
The pain will vary dramatically from woman to woman and much of it depends on your particular surgery. What type of surgery did you have and where were the incisions made? It will also depend on how big you went for implants and whether you have them implanted under or over the muscle.
So that’s the bad news….the good news is that all of the various types of pain are controllable with medication and your doctor will take care of you in this regard. The only time most women report feeling any kind of serious pain is when they are recovering in the recovery room and then the surgeon will begin regulating the pain with medication. The key is to communicate well with your doctor and if you are in pain then don’t assume that he or she can tell and let them know about it.
There is no reason to be in extreme pain during the recovery, you can expect some discomfort and some pressure in the chest as you heal but most women report that it is very manageable.
Good Luck.

For me, it wasn’t very bad at all but like they said above, a lot of it depends on the type of incision, how big the implants are, and if they are placed behind or in front of the pectoral muscle. These will all contribute to your level of discomfort.
I had my implants done through my nipples on both breasts and my implants were approximately 200 cc’s and they were placed behind the muscle. I would best describe the feeling as a pressure on my chest for about a week after surgery. I only felt what I would call pain for the first few days but it was very manageable with pain medication.
I returned to work within a week with no issues at all. I don’t blame you for having anxiety but it wasn’t as bad as you might think.
